The three W’s are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you plan to read next?

I am still on a romance kick! I just started reading book three of the Starcrossed Lovers trilogy, called Relentless. This series isn’t like books I’ve read before (it’s definitely a dark romance), and I’m really liking it.

I am listening to the fourth book in the Michael Bennett series thanks to my library. I am actually listening via CDs (so I can only listen in the car *waaaaahhhhhhh!*) because it’s a 9 week wait through Libby. So far it’s on the same pace as the first three in the series. I am not feeling the romance triangle that’s being thrown in the middle of a police procedural story, but I’m gonna see how it plays out. Bobby Cannavale is narrating again and I’m still for it.

Book three of the Michael Bennett series was pretty good. You know who the murder is because some chapters are written from his point of view, but the story made sense that way so I liked it. And like I said above, the romance angle is throwing me a little, but I think I will keep listening to this series (and hopefully get caught up before the year is over).

I finished Soulless last night. I couldn’t put it down! Yes, it did sort of repeat the same things over and over and it felt a little longer than it should of been… but I like where the story was heading. I’m new to the dark romance genre and I am liking it thus far.

My cousin recommended Storm (Storm MC series)by Nina Levine to me. It probably falls into the dark romance category too. I have it on my kindle app so sometimes it gets put on the back burner – not on purpose. Out of sight out of mind, ya know. It will be read after Relentless.

A Pocket Full of Rye WILL be read this month… but it seems that I keep putting off the Agatha Christie challenge books till the end of the month. This will be my first Miss Marple mystery and I am a little hesitant because I am a Hercule Poirot kinda girl!

The three W’s are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you plan to read next?

I am on a romance kick! I received Heartless in my Dangerous Romance box last year, and it’s been sitting on my shelf. After I finished the Hearts series (or what is released so far) I wanted to stick with a romance novel. I’m not that far in, but I can already tell it’s gonna be a good one.

I am listening to the third book in the Michael Bennett series thanks to my library. I am actually listening via CDs (so I can only listen in the car *waaaaahhhhhhh!*) because it’s a 6 week wait through Libby. So far it’s on the same pace as the first two in the series. Bobby Cannavale is narrating again and I’m strangely enjoying it.
Side note I feel like sharing: My father in law’s third wife has a sister who is married to her second husband. That husband had a child with his first wife, and that child is Bobby Cannavale (mentioned above). I like to tell myself I’m related to someone famous even though we aren’t lol! And no, I never met him.

Book two in the Hearts series was everything! The story felt like nothing was really happening (the two main characters were hiding out from people who wanted to kill them both, in a cottage in rural Ireland), but all of a sudden it ramped up and never stopped. The crazy ending wasn’t so crazy if you think about it and I think that’s why I gave it four stars on Goodreads. Can’t wait for the final book to come out this summer!

This book WILL be read this month… but it seems that I keep putting off the Agatha Christie challenge books till the end of the month. This will be my first Miss Marple mystery and I am hesitant because I am a Hercule Poirot kinda girl!

I was on a Tricia Levenseller kick, so I have The Pirate King series waiting for me. But I’ve also gotten really deep into the dark romance genre too.

Speaking of dark romance, my cousin recommended Storm (Storm MC series) to me. I’m sure all the books listed here will be read this month, just not sure which one will be next next lol!

Book Blogger Hop: Bookmarks

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Jennifer @ Crazy-For-Books in March 2010 and ended on December 31, 2012. With Jennifer’s permission, Billy @ Rambling’s Of A Coffee Addicted Writer relaunched the hop on February 15, 2013. Each week the hop will start on a Friday and end the following Thursday. There will be a weekly prompt featuring a book related question. The hop’s purpose is to give bloggers a chance to follow other blogs, learn about new books, befriend other bloggers, and receive new followers to your own blog.

Weekly Question ~ May 7 – 13: Do you collect bookmarks?

I wouldn’t say I “collect” them, but I do have a bunch of bookmarks. I normally use a bookmark to mark my place in a book when I am done reading. I have used a receipt, a tissue, a scrap of paper… pretty much anything flat should I not be able to find a proper bookmark. In the last almost two years (about the time I joined Bookstagram) I have bought a few, and some came with books I ordered.

Shout out to a local company called Charming Book Clips (who I bought my Harry Potter ribbon bookmark from *last picture above*)

Do you have a lot of bookmarks?

This is my 100th post on this blog! #milestone

The three W’s are: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you plan to read next?

I’m using my Kindle to read Daughter of the Pirate King. I wanted to read more books by Tricia Levenseller and I heard this duology was a good read!

I requested Ready Player Two on audiobook from my library MONTHS ago. The other day it landed on my shelf, ready for me to listen to. I loved the first book (Ready Player One) so I was excited to get into this one. But I listened to the first chapter and I’m just not in the mood. We will see how long I listen to this one….

Broken Hearts is book two in the Hearts duology that was just released. I want to finish up the series and see how Ronan & Poppy’s story ends.

I just finished the audiobook of book two in the Michael Bennett series, Run For Your Life by James Patterson. My mind wandered a little bit in some parts, but for the most part it was a good read. I plan to listen to the next book when it’s available from my library. Bobby Cannavale and Dallas Roberts did a pretty good job as narrators. Their voices are so different and I think it made a difference in the story. I love multiple narrators in books.

I also finished Stolen Hearts. I feel like nothing happened in the book yet I really liked the book. Weird? Yes I am, lol! Broody Irishman with a shady past and a naïve girl who is way in over her head starts to fall for said Irishman… sign me up!

If I enjoy Daughter of the Pirate King I will read the next book, Daughter of the Siren Queen. And this month’s Read Christie 2021 read is A Pocket Full of Rye. I haven’t read any Miss Marple books, and this is book 7 in the series, but I am gonna try it out and see how it goes.

The three W’s are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you plan to read next?

I am currently reading Stolen Hearts by M. O’Keefe, a book I got from my Dangerous Romance subscription box. I’m only forty pages in and I am totally hooked!

From Goodreads: “The flare of a cigarette, the sound of a stranger’s voice, and the handsome Irishman in the shadows–I wanted it all, but I wasn’t allowed to want. Ronan was danger and beauty, murder and mercy. To me, he was a mystery, but he was also the only man who ever knew me. In that single stolen moment before I had to give my life to someone else, I imagined myself with him, the man with scars and bruises. The one who knew what hurting meant far more than I did at that time. Instead I was given to another man, one who broke my soul right along with my bones. Through it all, there was always that memory of the man in the shadows, the one who said–not in words–that I was strong, that I could endure, that I was more than just a princess in a ballgown. Now Ronan is the only man who could keep me safe from two warring families that wanted my blood. The spark that started two years ago burned brighter with each touch, each glance, each kiss. He woke me from the nightmare, giving me life with soft touches and sharp words. Two years ago, Ronan gave me strength, but he took something in return. I never gave him my heart, but hearts like mine are made to be stolen.”

I just finished The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. I did the audiobook version (thanks to Scribd) of the book I own. I enjoyed hearing Hugh Fraser, as I think he did a great job of Hercule Poirot’s accent. I did get a little lost in the middle of the story (I got into doing something and was like half listening to the book, which was my mistake). But that ending! I liked it so much! I’m sure for the times the book was written it was a huge shock. Three stars.

Next up is Step On A Crack by James Patterson. I am trying to finish up the Michael Bennett series, so I’m starting from the beginning to refresh myself. It’s been ten years since I read the first three books (that were published at the time). I usually blow through Patterson books so I’m sure I’ll be all caught up real soon. Who doesn’t love a NY detective story? This Jersey girl does!

The three W’s are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you plan to read next?

I am STILL reading All The Tides of Fate. And it’s not that I do not like it, because so far it’s just alright, it’s just that other books are grabbing my attention. I made some progress over the weekend, so that’s a plus. It’s due back to the library in a week so it’s number one priority! Update: I found the audiobook so I am listening when I cannot read and it’s making a big difference!

Lately, before bed, I have been reading my kindle. I wanted a stand alone book to help get me out of my reading rut. Someone suggested The Shadows Between Us by Tricia Levenseller and ya know what, I’m all in on this book!!!!! I like that the main character, Alessandra, is a bad girl who wants to kill the current king after she marries him so she can rule the entire kingdom. Normally the books I read have “good girls” as the MC so it’s different feel for me. Plus I have to add that this cover is gorgeous!

I just finished the audiobook (which I borrowed from my library) of a BOTM book I own called Final Girls by Riley Sager. This was Riley Sager’s first published book, and I just picked it randomly as my BOTM choice back in 2017. This book was slow at the beginning but I pushed through and it was worth it. I guessed one thing pretty early on so when that was revealed I wasn’t surprised, but the main twist towards the end I didn’t see coming. If you like thrillers this one is for you. Note: foul language and talk of sex scenes are in this book. Do not listen to in front of children.

Next up is probably going to be The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. Reading this book will tick off a box in two challenges I’m currently involved in, the Read Christie 2021 challenge and the Beat The Backlist 2021 challenge.

Weekly Question ~ April 16 – 22: How many different weekly memes do you participate in besides Book Blogger Hop?

Mailbox Monday. It’s pretty much share any bookish mail you’ve gotten in the mailbox the week before. I normally do not get a lot of bookish mail constantly (due to a book buying ban I put myself on) and no one sends me mail *sad face* Obviously I only do this one when necessary. sorry i am not sure who is hosting this one or if i just saw it somewhere while searching link ups to participate in.

Top Ten Tuesday. Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl has prompts each week to post about. If a topic strikes me then I will write about it. I do not do this one all the time, but I’ve done it enough to keep it in my rotation, lol.

Tag Tuesday. If I am tagged in any memes this is day I will post about them (if I do not have another post already scheduled).

WWW Wednesday. Sam @ Taking On A World Of Words hosts this one. This is about what you’re currently reading, what you just finished reading and what you’re gonna read next. Simple and easy. I do this one often.

The Sunday Post. “A weekly meme hosted by Kimberly @ Caffeinated Reviewer. It’s a chance to share News. A post to recap the past week, showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is coming up for the week on our blog.” I do this post almost every Sunday of this year. I like that it’s a simple idea but can be interpreted anyway you wish. I share a quick update about my week, books I’m currently reading, if any book mail and let you know if I have any posts planned for the next week.

I love posting about all things books, and sharing what I write about within the reading & blogging community. If you know of any link up or memes that are fun to do, please share it with me in the comments!

Thanks to all who host these link up and memes I posted about today!

I am STILL reading All The Tides of Fate. And it’s not that I do not like it, because I do, it’s just that I haven’t had time to sit and read. I made some progress over the weekend, so that’s a plus. It’s due back to the library in a week so it’s number one priority!

The last thing I finished reading was a Netgalley read called We Three: One and One and One Make Three by Lara Zielinsky. It was a different take in the erotica category which I enjoyed, but the writing was only sub par so I gave it three stars on Goodreads.

Next up is probably going to be The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. Reading this book will tick off a box in two challenges I’m currently involved in. I am a mood reader so who knows what’ll happen when its time to read a new book, ha!

I am a good way through All The Tides of Fate. So far I am enjoying it! I also started reading Lord Edgware Dies the other day, the third book on my Read Christie 2021 challenge list (March prompt: a society figure). I have been a little busy this week, with work being crazy and the life of a mom lol.

I just finished listening to Vow of Thieves and I liked it. But, I just liked it… so I gave it two stars on Goodreads. The covers caught my attention, but the series as a whole was just alright.

Next up is The Midnight Bargain. I was approved for this one on Edelweiss last year and haven’t gotten around to it. My Netgalley/Edelweiss Challenge is seriously lacking, as usual, so I am trying to rectify that by getting to this one. It has almost 4 stars rating on Goodreads so it must be pretty good!

I just finished the audiobook of Dance of Thieves. I gave it three stars on Goodreads. I liked the story plot, and the characters… but it was just an okay listen.

I plan to read Lord Edgware Dies, the third book on my Read Christie 2021 challenge list. This book has been read by a lot of people as this month’s choice and it’s getting good reviews. I am excited to get into it!
